General Information

Belize is a democratic country with English as its official language. With daily, direct flights from Houston, Dallas and Miami. Belize is easy to get to. Belize is a unique fly fishing destination offering excellent fishing for Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon and Snook. It is a great destination to get a "Grand Slams" catching a bonefish, permit and a tarpon on a fly in the same day, or even a Super Grand Slam including a Snook!

Tarpon Caye Lodge is located in the famed Victoria Channel, known as "Permit Alley", 15 miles east of Placencia and 40 minutes from the airstrip where fishermen are picked up in our 28 foot open skiff and we then head out directly to Tarpon Caye. If you arrive on the early afternoon flight you will arrive at the lodge in time to get settled in and put some tackle together and get in a couple hours late evening fishing for tarpon, permit or bonefish.

Fishing Information

Tarpon Caye has a deep lagoon on the West side, which is protected by tall red mangrove trees. This lagoon is a tarpon fishing hotspot.You will also have lots of opportunities for permit and bonefish if the tide is good. There is also a good variety of other game fish like jacks, barracuda, snapper, spanish mackerel and other species. The fishing area of Tarpon Caye Lodge is covered with hundreds of square miles of flats. This area is known as ”Permit Capital of the world"! Permit can be found on these flats in good numbers.You can get chances to cast to up to 20 tailing fish on an average day.

Seasons

Tarpon Caye can be fished year round but the best months are march, april and may.

The Accommodation

Tarpon Caye lodge has three cabanas and a clubhouse/restaurant with fly tying facilities. Each cabana has its own private restroom & shower (h/c), two beds and a private porch. Sometimes you can see permits swimming right in front of your cabana! Meals at the Tarpon Caye Lodge usually consist of generous portions of fresh seafood like lobster, conch, shrimp or freshly caught fish, but also local Belizean meals such as chicken and pork with local vegetables!

Travel Schedule

Guests fly to Placencia, Belize and will be picked up on the airport to be taken to the boat that brings them to Tarpon Caye.

More or eless days of fishing can be arranged on request!

Included:

Ground transfers from Placencia airstrip to transport boat and return. Boat transfer to Tarpon Caye from Placencia and return.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (packed lunch on boat - upon request sodas, bottled drinking water, fresh juice. Beverages (sodas, juices and bottled water) Local rum.
Accommodations: private cabin, Daily Housekeeping.
Guided Fishing: guide, boat, fuel.
Complimentary use of snorkel gear and kayaks, Wi-Fi internet and taxes.

Not Included:

International airfare to and from Belize, Local airfare to and from Placencia.
Fishing License ($30US per angler, per week, Tips to guide and staff.
